I am so happy to hear that Art of Giving have decided to take on my chosen medical charity ‘Feet First Worldwide.’   This is a truly amazing charity run by Steve Mannion and Mercy Nkhalamba, that works to prevent and treat physical disability worldwide, often in remote areas of the world.

I am thrilled that some of my artwork will soon be available for sale on line with Art of Giving, in support of Feet First Worldwide and other charities.  I first exhibited with Art of Giving in London in 2009 and am full of admiration for what they have achieved.  Prints of my oil painting; ‘Mercy, Feet First Worldwide Project Coordinator (Malawi) will be available from Art of Giving in the next few weeks.

25th January 2011

Anne Corless exhibiting artwork at Animal Art Fair 2011, Fulham Palace, London

Very excited to see the promotion of the 2011 Animal Art Fair launched today!  If you want to enjoy watching the build up to this amazing exhibition at Fulham Palace in London, please visit Facebook to see a selection of this year’s work.

I am thrilled to be part of the Animal Art Fair!

It represents all the things I truly care about as an animal artist.  It celebrates the diversity of animal art and the uniqueness and variety of styles of the artists.  It shows us the beauty of some animals, the strength and power of others and the willingness of many to work with mankind.  Most of all……..it serves to remind us of the vulnerability of animals, the risks to their habitats and the very real danger of extinction of some species.  In this, the Animal Art Fair reminds us to pledge our support to the charities who work so hard to protect animals and educate people around the world, about them.

Animal Artist Anne Corless ‘Cheetah on the run’ oil painting chosen as the banner image for the website of the Fine Art Trade Guild:

fatg_homepage-jan-11_fatg_72dpi

I am so delighted that the Guild have chosen my oil painting of the cheetah for their banner.  The original oil was painted on a cotton canvas using Michael Harding oil paints and is painted traditionally using many layers and glazes.  All my artwork is from my own reference.  I spent 11 years in Kenya in my teens and early twenties (many, many years ago!) and my parents and I would often drive off to remote areas and game parks to see the African wildlife.  This oil painting is of a cheetah that I followed for a day with her cubs in Nairobi Game Park……until the ground became too rocky and the light failed.

My photographs and sketches from this time may be old and faded….but I remember it all well.  It is impossible to forget seeing animals in their natural habitat….because it is all so wonderful to experience!

December 2010 to mid February 2011

Solo Exhibition by Animal Artist Anne Corless of Wildlife and Equestrian Artwork at the Gallery ‘Dee Fine Arts‘, Heswall on the Wirrall:

“It is a great thrill to have been asked to exhibit my artwork at Dee Fine Arts at Heswall. This invitation means a lot to me because I will be returning to the Wirral, the area my parents grew up in. My own upbringing was spent travelling around the world with them, living in Nigeria, Australia and for eleven years in Kenya. Later I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and South Africa. Having met my Lancastrian husband in South Africa we returned to the UK and finally settled back in the North West, in Lytham St Annes, within walking distance of the beautiful sand dunes and vast beaches. Visiting the Gallery on the Wirral recently I was struck by the beauty of the area and the wonderful views over the River Dee. I look forward to spending some time there whilst my exhibition is on.”

October 2009

Animal Artist Anne Corless invited to exhibit wildlife artwork in ‘Art Of Giving’ Exhibition at Queen’s Elm Gallery in Chelsea, London:

I was honoured to be invited to take part in this exhibition, which was held in aid of the Born Free Foundation and the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust; two charities close to my heart after spending my teens and early twenties living in Nairobi and travelling around Kenya viewing wildlife!

The thrill of the Preview Evenings was meeting John Rendall, who along with fellow Australian Ace Bourke bought a lion cub in Harrods back in 1971. A year later, with the help of the Born Free Foundation, they took Christian the lion to Kenya to be rehabilitated and released under the care of George Adamson. It was also wonderful to meet Derek Cattani at the Preview Evenings; the photographer responsible for the dynamic images of Christian which clearly show the strong bond between Christian and his owners….and life with a lion cub in London!

Animal Artist Anne Corless donates Equine painting to Carrie Humble MBE, Founder and Ambassador of the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre:

In September 2008, artist Anne Corless (above) donated her watercolour portrait of “Hallo Dandy” the 1984 Grand National winner who died last year at the grand old age of 33 years, to Carrie Humble MBE, Founder and Ambassador of the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre in Lancashire.

Anne works as a Fine Artist and also as a Freelance Illustrator; in the specialist areas of medical, veterinary and scientific illustration. She is keen to use her artwork to help a number of charities close to her heart. Anne’s interest in the rehabilitation of retired racehorses comes from her own experiences, years ago of retiring a thoroughbred racehorse off the race track. Of the TRC (www.thoroughbredrehabilitationcentre.co.uk) Anne writes…”the dedication of the staff to the horses in their care is remarkable. Dan (Hallo Dandy) had a wonderful home with the TRC. On the occasions I visited the yard it was always a pleasure to see him enjoying his retirement.”
